Musical creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tells the tale of Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. Secretary of Treasury, through Hip-Hop and R&B music that has charmed millions of people for close to 10 years. "I understand how ridiculous the elevator pitch for this show is," says Miranda. "It sounds improbable. And then once you start hearing about Hamilton's life story, it sort of makes sense". Alexander Hamilton’s story is a complicated one, to say the least.
From starting the Federalist Papers to founding the American Coast Guard, and finally meeting his tragic end at the hands of Vice President Aaron Burr. Hamilton deals with numerous key points in American history.
By re-telling this story, Hamilton has gone on to win 11 Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, and the Pulitzer Prize!
Lin-Manuel Miranda not only produced this masterpiece, but he also took on the role of Alexander Hamilton as a part of the original cast.
The main cast of the Musical, despite playing as white historical figures, is primarily made up of minority actors. "This is a story about America then, told by America now," says Production creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. The present cast of Hamilton is comprised of talented actors such as Trey Curtis as Alexander Hamilton, Tamar Greene as George Washington, Stephanie Jae Park as Eliza Hamilton, and others.
