Providence Performing Arts Center Rules
Like all theaters, PPAC has its own set of rules and policies. Here’s everything you need to know about attending a show:
Bags
All bags are subject to inspection when you enter the venue. To pass they’ll need to fit comfortably under your seat.
Security
Walk-through metal detectors are used all PPAC entrances.
Latecomers
Latecomer policies are generally set by the touring company, not the venue. This means they can change depending on what you’re seeing. If you arrive past curtain time you’ll usually have to wait until an appropriate time to find your seat.
Plan early and aim to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the performance.
Children
Children aged six and under aren’t permitted at PPAC performances. There’s an exception for designated family shows.
Dress code
There’s no formal dress code at PPAC. Just wear what feels comfortable. That said, most patrons typically dress smart casual. After all, it’s a performing arts venue.
Food and drink
Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed in the theater. Instead, stock up on refreshments at concession stands before the show starts.
Items NOT ALLOWED at PPAC
- » Weapons
- » Firearms
- » Briefcases
- » Suitcases
- » Outside food and beverages
- » Cameras and other recording devices
There’s no secure storage area so confiscated items can’t be returned.
