Inspired by the previous sci-fi movie of the the very same name, the late film was converted for the theater platform by inventors Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. Transporting viewers straight back to the 1900s, specifically the 1980s and 1950s, The musical, Back To The Future, features the same narrative from the original 1980s film and was also brought to life by the previous picture's originators, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The high-spirited and vividly bright show tells the narrative of Marty McFly, a fearless boy who is sent back in time.
The story begins as Marty experiences a regular routine in a young man's lifestyle, participating in clubs (specifically in Marty's school band) and spending time with the McFly family, while continuously being quite curious of everything he encounters. His uncontrollable interest ends up as his distinct liability, as upon making contact with Doc Brown on a fateful evening, Brown explains that has succeeded in making his time machine (which is actually the DeLorean) operate. A sudden emergency that occurs on that night pressures Marty McFly to unknowingly use the device, surprising him and moving him back to three decades ago in 1955. Originally in awe of what just happened to him, Marty eventually surmises that to return to the right place and time, he must also drive the past, and the family and friends who don't know him, back to the right track.
Heavily inspired by the film with the same title, each scene location of the legendary show is represented as a homage to the sets from the previous movie, including Doc's lab, the McFly's house, Hill Valley High School, and many locations in the Hill Valley neighborhood. Both the stage and clothing design also stay true to the decades they represent. The musical's shift to the live platform expanded the viewership of one of the finest franchises ever made, while utilizing tweaks and innovations only achievable in a live theater production.
